Value Alerts, Night Mode and View Schedules
DataPix can do more than rotate: it can tell you when something happens, stay out of the way at night, and show the right view at the right time.
What you need
- A DataPix, powered on and joined to your WiFi (see Setup).
- For alerts: a view with a live value (an app stat, a built-in value or any JSON API).
- For night mode and schedules: the time zone set under Network Time.
Step by step
-
Add an alert to a value
Open a view, select a live value, and under Alert pick When it goes up (a new subscriber, order or star), When it goes above or When it drops below a value you type. Tick Color to draw the number in a colour of your choice while it flashes. Save.
-
What happens when it fires
The panel jumps to that view, flashes it for a few seconds, then keeps it up for about 15 seconds before the rotation carries on. Alert values are checked even while their view isn't showing. They fire on the change itself — never for the first value after a restart, and not again while the value stays above or below the limit.
-
Choose how often it checks
An alert can only notice a change when the value is fetched. Each view's Refresh every (s) setting (minimum 10) sets that for all its values; 0 keeps each value's own default.
-
Turn on night mode
In Night mode & notifications, tick Dim the panel at night, set From and Until, and pick a night brightness. All the way down means off: the panel stays dark, and messages and alerts wait until morning.
-
Schedule a view
In a view's settings, Show on picks the weekdays and a From / Until time — a commute view on weekday mornings, the match score on Saturday afternoons. Same time in both means all day. Outside its hours a view is skipped; if no view is scheduled, the panel stays dark.
