Subscribers, total views and video count for any channel.

Free API key  You need: A Google account (free) · About 3 minutes

What it shows

  • SUBS
  • VIEWS
  • VIDEOS (optional)

Each value refreshes every 5 min. The view shows the YouTube icon, the name of what you follow, then each value with its title above it.

How to set it up

YouTube needs a free API key from Google Cloud so this device is allowed to read channel statistics.

  1. Create a Google Cloud project

Open the Google Cloud Console and sign in. Click the project picker at the top, then New project, name it "DataPix" and click Create.

    Google Cloud Console

  2. Turn on the YouTube API

Open APIs & Services > Library, search for YouTube Data API v3, open it and click Enable.

    API Library

  3. Create an API key

Open APIs & Services > Credentials, click Create credentials > API key and copy the key. Recommended: click the new key, choose Restrict key, select YouTube Data API v3 and Save.

    Credentials

    Enter in DataPix: API key

  4. Choose the channel

    Enter the channel's @handle.

    Enter in DataPix: Channel handle

  5. Add it

In DataPix go to Views → Add a View → Social & community → YouTube, fill in the form, press Test to see real values, then Add. You can also add it to any view as one value: Add a value → App stat.

Updates every 5 minutes, using about 290 of YouTube's 10,000 free daily units.

If something is wrong

API key not valid

Copy the whole key again. If you restricted it, make sure YouTube Data API v3 is the allowed API.

Value shows N/A

The channel was not found. Check the handle, including the @.

Subscriber count looks rounded

YouTube publishes rounded subscriber counts (e.g. 12,345 becomes 12.3K). The exact number is not available.

The key is stored on this device only and is removed from exported views.

Keys and sign-ins stay on your DataPix. Change or remove them any time under Accounts & API keys.
